Depending on whether you are travelling alone, with two or three people, or on the price you want to pay, your sleeper compartment can be arranged for 1, 2 or 3 passengers.

When you book your sleeper journey, you can choose between:

• 1 bed in a Single compartment. In this case, you will have a whole compartment to yourself. This compartment will only be equipped with one bed.
• 2 beds in a Double compartment. In this case, you'll have a whole compartment just for the two of you. This will be fitted out with two beds.
• 3 beds in a T3 compartment. In this case, you'll have a whole compartment just for the three of you. It will be fitted out with three beds.
• an individual bed in a Double or T3 compartment. In this case, you will have to share your compartment with 1 or 2 other passengers.
• two individual beds in a T3 compartment. In this case, the two of you will have to share your compartment with a third passenger.

Depending on the rolling stock, the availability on the train or the price you want to pay, your couchettes compartment can be fitted out for 4, 5 or 6 passengers.

When you book your journey ia couchette compartment, you can choose between :

• one or more individual berths, in a compartment for 4, 5 or 6 passengers. In this case, you will have to share your compartment with other passengers.
• a full compartment (which you can occupy with 4, 5 or 6 people). In this case, your compartment will be reserved exclusively for your family or group of friends.

We might tend to confuse sleepers and couchettes, but a journey in a sleeper or a journey on a couchette is not at all the same experience.

• Sleepers are real beds with real mattresses, which are made and tucked in for you with real sheets. A sleeper compartment can accommodate 1, 2 or 3 passengers and also includes a private washbasin. Most Nightjet trains even have ‘Deluxe’ sleeper compartments, which include a private shower and WC.
• Couchettes are narrower, thinner berths that you will have to unfold yourself to travel lying down. A sheet, pillow and blanket are provided so that you can sleep during the journey. A couchette compartment can accommodate 4, 5 or 6 passengers and does not have private sanitary facilities. Toilets and washbasins are available at each end of the carriage.

If you prefer comfort and privacy, opt for a journey in a sleeper. If you prefer money saving and socializing, choose couchettes!
