AVE France-Spain

Compare the different fare classes for the AVE high speed trains between France and Spain:

Básico	Standard seat No exchange or refund possible
Elige Estándar	Standard seat 1 ticket exchange allowed for free until 5 minutes before departure. A 2nd exchange is possible with a €10 exchange fee. The price difference (if any) between the original and the new ticket must be paid for (no refund if the new ticket is cheaper). The ticket can be refunded with 30% cancellation costs. Meal served at your seat (subject to availability).
Elige Confort	Large seat (XL) 1 ticket exchange allowed for free until 5 minutes before departure. A 2nd exchange is possible with a €10 exchange fee. The price difference (if any) between the original and the new ticket must be paid for (no refund if the new ticket is cheaper). The ticket can be refunded with 30% cancellation costs. Meal served at your seat (subject to availability).

Children

Children under 14 ans enjoy 40% off, regardless of the chosen fare level.
Small children under 4 years can travel for free (no reserved seat), but need a free Infant Ticket. You can get it at a local ticket office on presentation of the accompanying adult's ticket reference.
Children must always be accompanied by an adult.

All AVE tickets include:

audio and video channels
bar carriage or mobile bar (consumptions must be paid for)
Combinado Cercanías: with the "Commuter" or "Combinado Cercanías" code (barcode or numeric code) printed on your AVE ticket, you can pick up a free ticket at the local ticket machines or ticket offices that allows you to travel on the Cercanías or Rodalies suburban train network around your departure or arrival station in Spain.
In Madrid, you don't even need to collect this ticket: you can access the suburban network directly by scanning the code on your AVE ticket at the access turnstiles.
You can use your Combinado Cercanías in your region of departure from 4 hours before the departure of your AVE train, and in your region of arrival until 4 hours after the arrival of your AVE train.

Larga Distancia (AVE, Euromed, Alvia, Intercity)Long distance trains

Intercity trains are comfortable long-distance trains, but they don't use high-speed lines.
