EuroCity trains provide a flexible daily service between Belgium and the Netherlands. They take you from Brussels to Rotterdam (and vice versa) several times a day, with stops en route in cities such as Antwerp, Mechelen and Breda.
From Breda and Rotterdam stations, you can catch an easy connection and travel to other destinations in the Netherlands.
Update 19/5, 7h25 am
Due to a strike, the rail service on the Belgian rail network will be limited from Monday 19 May (10 pm) to Tuesday 20 May 2025 included.
An alternative train service will be drawn up based on available train staff. Take this alternative train service into account if you need to take a domestic connection in Belgium before or after your international train journey, or if you need to take our regional trains shortly across the border (Roosendaal, Maastricht, Aachen, Luxembourg, Lille or Maubeuge). More details on this alternative train service are available on www.belgiantrain.be.
All TGV INOUI, OUIGO and ICE trains operate normally. Likewise, most Eurostar trains will operate normally (except for 2 trains in both directions between Brussels and Paris).
However, several EuroCity and Eurocity Direct trains that connect Belgium and The Netherlands are cancelled on Tuesday 20/05.
EuroCity: 12 trains out of 16 will operate in each direction. Cancelled trains:
Eurocity Direct: half of the trains operating. Cancelled trains:
We advise to check this page regularly for further updates.
Due to engineering works on the dutch rail network, the EuroCity trains (Brussel-Rotterdam) will only operate between Brussels and Roosendaal on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 May 2025. Eurocity Direct (Brussel-Amsterdam) trains will not be operating. Eurostar trains will not operate between Brussels and the Netherlands either.
From Roosendaal, passenger can use NS trains to their final destination.
Due to planned engineering works, the Eurocity Direct (Brussels-Amsterdam) will exceptionally terminate at Amsterdam Central station instead of Amsterdam Zuid, and will therefore not continue to Almere and Lelystad from Thursday 29 May to Sunday 1 June 2025.
Besides, on Saturday 31 May and Sunday 1 June, the Eurocity Direct will be diverted from its usual itinerary, resulting in longer journey times. The EuroCity Trains (Brussels-Rotterdam) will exceptionally operate between Brussels and Roosendaal only.
Our journey planner is already taking these changes into account.
