International rail travel for passengers with reduced mobility

In order to make travelling possible to everyone, you will find all information about reserving specific seats for passengers with reduced mobility and about assistance at the station for international train journeys.

Place for a wheelchair user + ticket for a companion

Some trains have a wheelchair space, which can be reserved at a specific fare:

Eurostar and TGV INOUI

On Eurostar and TGV INOUI trains, one or more wheelchair spaces are provided in 1st class, which offers more space so you don't have to leave your wheelchair. These seats are located very close to large toilets, which are accessible to wheelchair users. This space will be given to you upon request (subject to availability). A special fare applies, so that wheelchair users (as well as one companion) can travel in 1st class at a 2nd class fare.

On direct connections to and from Belgium with Eurostar and TGV INOUI, you can now book the wheelchair space online or by phone, as well as the seat for an accompanying person.

ICE and OUIGO Brussels-Paris

Special wheelchair spaces are also available on ICE trains (Brussels-Cologne-Frankfurt connection) and on OUIGO Brussels-Paris. They are located in 2nd class, near the toilets for wheelchair users.

EuroCity, Eurocity Direct and regional cross-border trains

On EuroCity and Eurocity Direct trains between Belgium and the Netherlands, but also on our regional cross-border trains, mobility impaired passengers can be accompanied by one person travelling on a free companion ticket. Hereto, the mobility impaired passenger must be in possession of a national free carer card issued by SNCB-NMBS or of a EU Disability Card.

The free companion ticket can be obtained by phone.

For the EuroCity and Eurocity Direct trains, it is also available online if booked together with the (paid) ticket for the mobility impaired passenger.
