Take the train to Düsseldorf Airport
Seen as the gateway to North Rhine-Westphalia, Düsseldorf Airport is also the third largest airport in Germany, after the airports of Frankfurt and Munich. In 2014, 80 different airlines transported almost 22 million passengers to a total of 180 destinations in 50 countries.
The airport, which is located 8 km north of Düsseldorf and close to the exhibitions hall and trade fairs of the city, has its own railway station on the Cologne - Duisburg line. The "Düsseldorf Flughafen" railway station is served daily by 300 trains, including high-speed Thalys trains which connect Düsseldorf Airport directly to Belgium (Brussels and Liege) and France (Paris). SkyTrain, an automatic monorail system, links the train station with the airport terminals along a single line of 2.5 km.
