Refund of your international train tickets

Do you unexpectedly have to re-sit an exam? A planned meeting is cancelled? You have been made redundant? All unforeseen circumstances which may give rise to you having to cancel your holiday!

But, if the rate you have chosen permits it, you can claim a refund for your tickets! Be aware of the fact that the cancellation must take place before the planned date of departure for trains with mandatory reservation (except for Eurostar Full Flex rates that are refundable until 60 days after departure!).

This depends on the rate of your ticket:

  • Full Flex: these rates permit a full refund
  • Mid Flex: these rates only permit a partial refund
  • Non Flex: these are the cheapest rates and cannot be refunded

Always check the refund conditions for the rate you are buying!

If the cancellation conditions for your international train tickets permit it, they can be refunded in the following way:

By phone

Online

In the station

Via the travel agent

Have you considered travel insurance?

Our partner Touring allows SNCB Europe to provide cancellation insurance that can be purchased when you are booking your train tickets (only applies to trains with mandatory reservation, except for night-trains).

For just € 2.50 per person per journey, you can insure travel costs for a whole series of unexpected events (even if you have chosen a Non-Flex rate). The full summary of unforeseen events can be found under Touring general conditions.

Have you chosen a Mid-Flex rate? SNCB Europe will then pay back the refundable percentage of your travel costs and Touring will pay you the rest.
