On which trains are you allowed to bring your pet?

So you enjoy taking your pet with you on your travels? Then we have excellent news for you! In many cases you are allowed to bring your four-legged friend on the train! However, different rules apply on different trains:

 

 

  • Cats and small dogs in a cage or basket: free of charge and no ticket required on all routes
  • Muzzled dogs on a lead or on their owner's lap: a second-class train ticket at 50% of the adult fare, to be purchased at one of our stations selling international train tickets.
  • Dogs accompanying blind travellers: free of charge and no muzzle required
  • Exception: animals are not allowed on board the Thalys Snow and the Thalys Sun

 

What else do I need to know about Thalys?

 

  • Dogs and small pets are not allowed to travel on the Eurostar
  • Guide dogs for the blind are allowed under strict conditions. These include:
    . they must have an electronic chip
    . they require a certificate allowing entry into the United Kingdom (to be obtained via the Ministry of SME and Agriculture)
    . they require a certificate of treatment against Ectoparasites and Endoparasites (to be obtained via the Ministry of SME and Agriculture)
    . a statement is required from the person bringing the animal into the UK (may be filled out upon entry in London)
  • A special, free ticket is issued for transporting guide dogs for the blind.

 

What else do I need to know about Eurostar?

 

  • Cats and small dogs in a cage or basket: a special ticket at a fixed far of € 10 (TGV Brussels-France and Brussels-Lille), to be purchased at one of our stations selling international train tickets.
  • Muzzled dogs on a lead or on their owner's lap: a second-class ticket at 50% of the adult fare, to be purchased at one of our stations selling international train tickets.
  • Dogs accompanying blind travellers: free of charge and no muzzle required

 

What else do I need to know about TGV?

 

  • Cats and small dogs in a cage or basket: free of charge on routes within Belgium and at 50% of the adult fare on other networks (in France you need a special ticket at a fixed rate of € 10), to be purchased at one of our stations selling international train tickets.
  • Muzzled dogs on a lead or on their owner's lap: a second-class train ticket at 50% of the adult fare, to be purchased at one of our stations selling international train tickets.
  • Dogs accompanying blind travellers: free of charge and no muzzle required
  • Exception: Transport of animals (except guide dogs for the blind and assistance dogs) is not allowed in Norway, Italy, Finland, Great-Britain, the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland

 

  • Cats and small dogs in a cage or basket: free of charge
  • Muzzled dogs on a lead or on their owner's lap: a second-class train ticket at 50% of the adult fare, to be purchased at one of our stations selling international train tickets.
  • Dogs accompanying blind travellers: free of charge and no muzzle required
  • Please note: pets are allowed only if you book the entire section of berths or sleepers

 

What else do I need to know about night trains?
