Assistance for a wheelchair user at Antwerp station

Like on the Belgian domestic network, special care is taken for disabled passengers on international trains as well.

Some international trains even offer special fares, so that you can enjoy the comforts of 1st class for the price of a 2nd class fare.

Eurostar, TGV & Thalys

In 1st class on Eurostar, TGV and Thalys, there are one or more locations for wheelchairs. This means you can travel in comfort without having to move out of your wheelchair. These positions are alongside spacious toilets laid out especially for wheelchair passengers.

Ask to have one of these locations allocated to you when you make your booking. Our sales staff will reserve one for you, subject to availability.

So that these facilities can be accessible to everyone, Eurostar, Thalys and TGV provide special rates so that wheelchair passengers and their attendants can travel in first class for a second class fare.

The special location for wheelchairs, as well as the special rate for wheelchair users and their attendant, can be booked by telephone through +32 (0)70 79 79 79 (€ 0,30/min.), at your SNCB station or in accredited travel agencies.

ICE

ICE trains (Brussels-Cologne-Frankfurt connection) also provide facilities for wheelchair travellers. However, in ICE trains, these are in second class, near special toilet facilities.

Traditional daytime trains (EC/IC)

Some traditional international trains have special facilities for wheelchair passengers. This is the case of train EC 96/97 (Iris), for example, which takes you all the way from Brussels to Coire (via Luxembourg and Basle) in the comfort of your wheelchair.

Your attendants

During your journey, the on-board personnel are there to help you! If you need any help or information, don't hesitate to call them. You can also ask the guard if you need help at your destination station.

The main international stations comply to high standards of accessibility (elevators, escalators etc...), and offer assistance service on request to facilitate your arrival or departure.

* Unless expressly stated otherwise, all fares quoted are per person/per leg (VAT included) based on an online reservation for a 2nd class return from Brussels. Please note, terms and conditions apply. Tip: As the number of seats at the lowest fares on Thalys, Eurostar, TGV and ICE is limited, we recommend that you book your trip as early as possible. Most international trains allow reservations to be made from 3 months before the date of departure (from 4 months on Eurostar).

Notice: you do not have a right of withdrawal in accordance with article 47 of the Act of 6 April 2010 on market practices and consumer protection.
