Take the train to the Côte d'Azur
What is there to do on the Côte d’Azur?
The Côte d’Azur – the seafront stretching from the Italian border to Saint-Tropez – is such a draw mainly because of its gentle temperatures and its fashionable resorts like Nice, Antibes, Cannes, Fréjus and St-Tropez.
Nice enjoys a unique location with its hills and
azure blue sea. The
pleasant climate, wonderful cooking, upmarket boutiques and an unbridled passion for art and culture attracts myriad tourists every year.
Antibes provides a broad
range of restaurants, piano bars, variety theatres, trendy hotels and private clubs. But the real
night birds come out at dusk to
Juan-les-Pins, where in summer they converge on the nightclubs and the casino.
Cannes is known above all for its
Film Festival. In May, the film stars jostle one another under the gaze of the TV cameras. Cannes is also full of hotels and luxury boutiques.
Fréjus has preserved its
Roman remains; the amphitheatre is still used today. There are also still a few sections of the old 40 km long viaduct left. The cathedral is in the town centre and there is a zoo outside the town.
In line with its glamorous image,
St.-Tropez is brimful of boutiques and restaurants. If it’s a fantastic view of the coast you want, you should climb the citadel. It is also home to a marine museum.
