Bar-buffet

The BordBistro is available to all passengers and offers a selection of light meals, sandwiches, salads, hot snacks and beverages.

Panorama Lounge

The ICE 3 carriages (on the high-speed line between Cologne and Frankfurt) offer a Panorama Lounge where passengers can watch the train driver thanks to a glass partition! Panorama Lounges are available in 1st and 2nd class.

DB Lounges

In Cologne, Frankfurt Airport and Frankfurt, 1st class passengers have access to the DB Lounges where they can get free coffee, tea and other beverages. Passengers can watch television on the large screens or read a variety of magazines and newspapers. Dedicated work areas with Internet connection are also available.

Fares to suit your requirements

ICE offers three main fares depending on whether you would like a flexible journey or cheaper travel (all fares are subject to availability). Each of these fares is available with our without additional reduction (Railplus or Bahncard):

• Normal Fare (Normalpreis): available up until the last minute; tickets can be refunded or exchanged. For passengers whose most important requirement is flexibility.
• Europa Spezial: the cheaper way to travel to Germany from a neighbouring country. Tickets are available in limited quantities and must be booked at least three days in advance. Non-refundable.
• Sparpreis: same conditions as the Europa Spezial fare, but for domestic journeys inside Germany.

your ICE ticket and seat reservation

ICE makes a distinction between the ticket for your journey and your seat reservation, which states the date of your journey, time of departure, time of arrival and your carriage and seat numbers.

• If you are travelling at the standard fare, reservation is not compulsory, as you are free to move your departure earlier or later.
  However, if you would still like to reserve a seat (which is strongly recommended), the reservation would usually cost you €4 per journey, unless you buy your ticket online*.
• As the number of seats available at the saver Sparpreis fares is limited, seat reservation is compulsory (but free of charge) for passengers holding Sparpreis tickets.

* only applies for the direct Brussels-Aachen-Cologne-Frankfurt ICE service.
