Eurostar and TGVs linking Lille with London, Brussels and most towns in France travel via Lille-Europe. You need to purchase a valid travel ticket to gain access to the public transport system in Lille. If you are using the metro system, you will need to validate your ticket in one of the designated ticket validation machines near the entry of the metro station prior to entering the metro stop. Tickets must be purchased at a ticket vending machine prior to travel.
The city of Lille also provides two tramlines with more than 35 stops. These lines connect Roubaix with Tourcoing. Around sixty bus lines operate within the city in addition to the metro and tram systems. These buses operate every day between 5.30 a.m. and midnight, except on 1 May.
