The public transport system in Cologne is well organised and includes an extensive network for travel by bus, tram and subway, all accessible with one single ticket. Most lines arrive at the stations of Hauptbahnhof and Neumarkt.
The tram system in Cologne is better known as the U-bahn. Tickets can be purchased at stations, on trams and at numerous kiosks. A single ticket costs EUR 1.60 but there are cheaper options, such as the multi-ride ticket or a day pass.
The train system in Cologne is also known as the S-bahn (Stadt-Bahn) and includes a well-covered network of 5 lines. These trains halt at railway stations of Deutsche Bahn and at P&R car parks around the city’s perimeter. Digital displays at every station indicate the next train due to arrive.
The public transport system in Cologne also includes buses in addition to the subway system and trams. These bus services are operated by the Kölner Verkehrs-Betriebe, who also operates the tram and metro services. Around 50 bus lines provide bus transport throughout the city.
